Inclusive counting adds the ending date to the number of days being counted.
For January 1 through January 8, 2026:
Use inclusive counting for situations such as event-day counts, certain leave periods, or schedules in which both dates should be counted.

How Are Years, Months and Days Calculated?
Calendar months do not all contain the same number of days.
Therefore, an exact calendar difference is not the same as dividing total days by 30 or 365.
A calendar-based calculation considers complete years, complete months and remaining days, using an appropriate calendar arithmetic method.
Calendar Difference Example
Consider February 10, 2025, to May 20, 2026.
The exact decomposition of certain end-of-month date ranges can depend on the calendar method used by the calculator.
How Many Days Are in Each Month?
Different calendar months have different numbers of days.
| Month | Days |
|---|---|
| January | 31 |
| February | 28 or 29 |
| March | 31 |
| April | 30 |
| May | 31 |
| June | 30 |
| July | 31 |
| August | 31 |
| September | 30 |
| October | 31 |
| November | 30 |
| December | 31 |
What Is a Leap Year?
A leap year has 366 days rather than the usual 365.
The extra day is February 29.
Under Gregorian calendar rules, years divisible by four are generally leap years.
However, century years must also be divisible by 400.
Leap Year Rules
- A year divisible by 4 is usually a leap year.
- A year divisible by 100 is not a leap year unless it is also divisible by 400.
- For example, 2000 was a leap year, but 1900 was not.
How Does a Leap Year Affect Date Differences?
Leap years can change the number of days between dates that span the end of February.
Leap Year Comparison Example
Compare February 28 to March 1 in different years.
Normal Year — 2025
Leap Year — 2024
The additional day occurs because February 29 exists in 2024.

| Year | Leap Year? | Days |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Yes | 366 |
| 2025 | No | 365 |

How Does the Calculator Count Weekdays?
Weekdays are normally Monday through Friday.
The MyCruncher Date Difference Calculator counts how many days in the selected interval fall on weekdays.
Weekend days are Saturdays and Sundays.
Weekday Calculation Example
January 1, 2026 is a Thursday.
The normal seven-day interval ending January 8 contains five weekdays and two weekend days.
If the ending Thursday is included, the interval contains six weekdays and two weekend days.
Are Weekdays the Same as Business Days?
Not always. The calculator identifies Monday through Friday as weekdays.
It does not automatically remove public holidays, company holidays or other nonworking days.
If you’re planning a business deadline, you may need to subtract applicable holidays separately.
How Are Total Hours Calculated?
The calculator converts whole calendar days into hours using 24 hours per day.
For example, 14 calendar days:
This is a mathematical duration based on whole days.
It is not a measurement of clock time between specific timestamps.
Days to Hours Conversion Chart
| Days | Hours |
|---|---|
| 1 | 24 |
| 2 | 48 |
| 3 | 72 |
| 5 | 120 |

| 10 | 240 |
| 14 | 336 |
| 30 | 720 |
| 365 | 8,760 |
Does Daylight Saving Time Affect the Results?
No. MyCruncher compares calendar dates only.
For this purpose, each counted calendar day is represented as 24 hours.
Real elapsed clock time between timestamps can differ around daylight saving transitions.
For exact time-zone-sensitive durations, use a date-and-time calculation tool that supports timestamps and time zones.

- Assuming every month has 30 days. Calendar months vary in length.
- Ignoring leap years. February may have 29 days.
- Confusing weekdays with business days. Holidays may need separate handling.
- Confusing calendar hours with actual elapsed clock hours. Daylight saving time can affect timestamp-based durations.
- Using incorrect date order. Confirm the intended start and end dates.
- Confusing total days with calendar months. These measure time differently.
- Assuming all deadlines use the same rules. Check the relevant policy or agreement.
